Professor Maria Vanessa Lusung-Oyzon is an Associate Professor at the UP Diliman College of Education, where she also obtained her master’s degree in Educational Psychology and bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, specializing in Social Studies. She recently completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Education degree at the same college. Her dissertation “Lived Experiences of High Ability Underachieving Filipino College Students in STEM: A Phenomenological Study” was awarded with Pinakamahusay na Pananaliksik (Kategorya ng Disertasyon).
Her passion in teaching has been remarkable since her undergraduate years until today. She was awarded as the Most Outstanding Student Teacher of the Philippines in 1993. Prof. Oyzon was also one of the Top 100 UP Diliman Professors in 2010 and 2011, awarded by the Great Ideas.ph Project. In 2011 and 2013, she was granted the Gawad Kolehiyo (UP College of Education) Excellence in Teaching Award as an Associate Professor in the College of Education.
Prof. Oyzon also helped mentor Japanese pre-service teachers who had their practicum at the UP Integrated School, and was invited as a visiting professor at Ehime University, Matsuyama, Japan under the Good Practice Program sponsored by the Japanese Government in 2012. Locally, she has been a trainer of UP Diliman Faculty through the Office for the Advancement of Teaching’s (OAT) Teaching Effectiveness Courses under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA), and basic education or multi-grade teachers under the K-12 program.
Besides being the director of GEC, she has been involved in College Committees, and has been an active member of University Council Standing Committees. She also served as the Director of the UP Diliman Learning Resource Center under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs from 2007 to 2011, Student Teaching Coordinator of the College of Education in 2011-2013, College Secretary from 2013 to 2016, and OIC Dean from January to April 2016 of the College of Education. Outside administrative work, she hosts the radio-based literacy program of the College of Education, Radyo Edukado.

Professor Christine C. Hernandez began her career at the University of the Philippines Diliman as an Instructor after earning her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry in 1994. She obtained her PhD in Chemistry from the same university in 2006 after a sandwich program at the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, Harvard Medical School.
Aside from teaching, she served the University as Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Scholarships and Student Services (2009-2011) and went on to become the College Secretary of the College of Science for six years (2011-2017). She is the current Director of the Institute of Chemistry (2017-present).
Outside the University, she shares her expertise by serving as reviewer of scientific articles and research proposals; organizer, speaker and facilitator of symposiums and workshops; and as a Special Technical Committee Member of the Scientific Career Council of the National Academy of Science and Technology.
Some of her awards include University Scientist II (2012-present), One UP Professorial Chair in Research and Public Service holder (2016-present) and she is a consistent recipient of the University of the Philippines Professorial Chair.

Dr. Eugene Rex L. Jalao is an Associate Professor of Analytics and Industrial Engineering in the University of the Philippines Diliman, Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. He specializes in Decision Support Systems, Business Analytics Solutions, Data Mining, Optimization and Systems Simulation. He obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University (ASU) in May 2013. Additionally, he obtained his Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering degree as well as his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2009 and 2007 respectively. He was inducted into the Alpha Phi Mu, Industrial Engineering Honor Society in 2012. His ten years of work and research experience are in the fields of business analytics both here in the Philippines and in the United States of America, specifically in the Banking, FMCG, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Healthcare, Telecommunications and Information Technology industries. Also, he is the current director of the Business Analytics Certification Program of UP National Engineering Center. Furthermore, he was part of 50-person APEC team that drafted the Recommended Data Science and Analytics Competencies last May 2017 in Singapore. He is also a certified SAP ERP Materials Management consultant, a Matlab computing associate and an advocate of the R Programming language.
