Dr. Marilyn R. Canta is currently Associate Professor of the Department of Art Studies, College of Arts and Letters, UP Diliman. Her career in the University spans close to four decades, including a stint of five years at the Main Library prior to her post as faculty member. Aside from her teaching duties, and before her assignment as University Registrar, Dr. Canta also served in various administrative capacities--as Chair of the Department of Art Studies, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the College, Officer-in-charge of the Business Concessions Office and Assistant University Registrar for Computerized Registration.
Dr. Canta graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education, cum laude, after which she worked towards her MA in Art History, completing a research on the Spanish colonial churches of Camarines Sur. Several years in India went towards the completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in History of Art from the Banaras Hindu University, doing research, learning Hindi and Bharatanatyam (an Indian classical dance), and visiting places of artistic and cultural significance. She continues to share this interest in South Asian art and culture in conversation and in her classes. In 2014, she completed her PhD in Philippine Studies, writing her dissertation on "Indian Textiles in the Philippines: Contexts of Encounter and Traces of Practice".
Dr. Canta spent close to a year in Mozambique as a VSO volunteer, where she added Portuguese to the list of languages she has learned (Bikol, Spanish, French, Hindi, Urdu). These days, she continues to learn Spanish, hopes she can resume playing badminton, and constantly dreams of other lands to explore.

The Assistant University Registrar
Asst. Professor Tessa Maria Guazon has degrees in design and art history from the University of the Philippines. She had lived for various periods in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand for research fellowships. She was awarded the Asian Public Intellectuals Fellowship by The Nippon Foundation for research on culture and urbanization in cities in Thailand and Indonesia. She studied the Thai language in 2008 and 2009 in Mahidol University Salaya under a SEASREP (Southeast Asia Regional Exchange Program) Language Training Grant. In 2007 she was at the Asia Research Institute National University of Singapore for the ASEAN Graduate Students Fellowship. The Singapore International Foundation facilitated her attachment as researcher at the National Arts Gallery Singapore between 2011 and 2012 through their Art Associates Program. She attended the CIMAM International Conference in Istanbul in 2013 by way of an international travel grant from CIMAM Barcelona.
Her research interests focus on contemporary public art practices in urban centers. She considers their economies of production, their orbits of circulation and reception, examining as well the possible ways contemporary art mediates the public sphere. Her international publications on the topic include a chapter for the anthology Transforming Asian Cities published by Routledge and an essay for the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research by Wiley Blackwell. She is Assistant Professor 7 at the Art Studies Department, College of Arts and Letters UP Diliman and placed 10th in the Licensure Examination for Interior Designers. Her graduate thesis was awarded Best MA. She has since written about her research interests for international and local journals and books, presented papers and shared ideas in conferences and workshops here and abroad. She curates exhibitions, writes about art and film and practices yoga avidly.
The Assistant University Registrar for Computerized RegistrationDr. Eugene Rex L. Jalao obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University (ASU) in May 2013. He specializes in Decision Support Systems, Business Intelligence, Data Mining and Systems Simulation. He was inducted into the Alpha Phi Mu, Industrial Engineering Honor Society in 2012. He obtained his Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering degree as well as his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2009 and 2007 respectively. He has seven years of work and research experience in business analytics both here in the Philippines and in the United States of America, specifically in the Banking, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Healthcare, Telecommunications and Information Technology industries. He is the director of the Business Analytics Certification Program of UP National Engineering Center. Furthermore, he was part of the Information Systems and Supply Chain Management laboratory of the School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering of Arizona State University during his Ph.D. studies. He is also a certified SAP ERP Materials Management consultant and a Matlab computing associate.
